Hello, I’m totally new to IF and to dieting. Got some questions. Grateful for any advice.
Context: Up until recently I’ve always been slim but the pandemic combined with a new baby and a bunch of other stress has left me living in a stranger’s body. I need to drop ~50lbs. How fast can I safely do this? (33f, 5’ 11” weighing in about 200–goal weight 150)
A friend of mine, similar age and height, used a diet they call “juicing” and had incredible results. Does anyone here use that method for your meals?
I am looking at the 20:4 as I’ve got young kids and I don’t think I could manage to fast for long periods of time and keep my energy up for them. Drinking a healthy juice meal seems appealing to me, as I have to imagine it goes through you faster and leaves you feeling lighter/less constipated?
Lastly, could someone explain cutting alcohol to me like I’m 5? I have this sneaking suspicion if I cut it entirely for a wee bit I’d see faster results and feel better overall, but haven’t been brave enough to try.
You can drink a healthy juice meal, however, if you do it in what is supposed to be your fasting window, it’s not fasting. Fasting involves no intake of calories, healthy or not.
Alcohol impedes weight loss in several ways, so better to do without it.
My advice is to start with 16/8 , dial in your nutrition and go from there. Starting out 20:4 if you’re totally new to time restricted eating could be tough. Dropping the booze will make losing weight easier, better sleep too. But I know I know. I have kids too. Speaking of drinking calories, juice is mostly sugar and will spike insulin. Better off drinking water and eating fruit with other foods too.
