Is my scale lying to me?

Yesterday I weighed in at 144.8, day before it was 145.6. Today I got on and it said 138.5. I fast 22-24 hours on weekdays and typically do 1 hr eating windows. Weekends I do 16/8. So my weight fluctuates a lot, always higher at the beginning of the week after not eating a normal amount, and if falls during the end of the week and I’ve been steadily losing 1/2 lb every week since July. But this drop seems to drastic to be real… Should I be excited or find a new scale?

Your weight is going to fluctuate a lot while you’re fasting. You’ll see every ounce of water that you drink. All the food you eat, however much waste you’re holding, etc. I’ve seen 10 lb fluctuations on many occasions. But that being said, doing 23 hr fasts is impeccable dedication…you can lose 15-20 lbs in a month with those kinds of eating habits. Especially if that 1 hr window is health foods. Some people (me often times included) still eat like shit in our eating windows, which slows progress down significantly. Tldr your experience is totally normal

Your weight can definitely fluctuate, keep pushing on.

With that said - my scale will report wrong if it’s batteries are dying. I can get on scale, get a weight then step back on to double check and have a way different weight so I always check twice.

Weighing every day first thing in the morning without clothes, before meal/water intake, and not experiencing any pathological weight loss (e.g. profound vomiting/diarrhea/sweating)? You scale is inaccurate.

Scales are not your friend, there is too much fluctuation depending on glycogen, water, electrolytes and muscle mass.
Just weigh yourself once a week or even month for the history.

Focus on more important health (& look) things like hip to waist ratio. Measuring tape and calipers are much more accurate in assessing the progress.
