I’m trying to do research online, and I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask here as well.
We have a number of sodium dependent transporters (also known as symporters) that harness the sodium electrochemical gradient to cross cellular plasma membranes. Examples are sodium dependent glucose transporters (SGLT), sodium dependent amino acid transporters (SNAT2), sodium dependent phosphate transporters, and quite a few others. It’s not fully dependent on salt in the same meal, but the depends on the gradient of sodium ions that is an integral part of human physiology.
