People have been eating charred/roasted foods for centuries, or longer. There’s way worse things that are cancer causing like perscription drugs, or processed foods and sugars. I think you’ll be alright
Short answer, yes. Burnt material=carbon compounds=carcinogens=cancer. Try high pressure cooking, steaming, or boiling (worst flavor IMO) for a good flavor profile and even heating to prevent the char.
