Answer

After reading The Obesity Code, I came away with the impression that we should primarily be concerned with avoiding REFINED carbs (breads, pasta, sugary-anything) when we are trying lower insulin resistance – but I don’t think Fung is opposed to normie carbs coming from fruits and vegetables. He does talk about fructose going straight to the liver, so maybe don’t go fruit crazy and drink a lot of processed fruit juice. He doesn’t give a specific number of carbs to eat, or outright endorse the Keto diet. I think if you stick with carbs from whole foods, your body will only want so much of that, and you might naturally self-regulate to a reasonable and healthy amount, especially if you are incorporating fasting too.
