Is there something in our evolution that makes us naturally crave fattier cuts of meat as we age?

As a kid I would only eat chicken breast or flank steak or other lean cut of meat, and would avoid fat on any piece like the plague. Nowadays I find myself enjoying thighs, ribeyes, strip steaks, and fatty fish more than their lean counterparts. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it related to the nutrients in fatty meats we need more of as we age?

Answer

Yes, possibly because of nutrients. Also possibly coincides with calorie needs?? This is just a shot in the dark. But fatty cuts of meat have more calories. And we know many older adults tend to lose weight/become malnourished as they age…could these be connected I wonder?

Answer

Alrhough youre not wrong (more fat is needed for storage of energy compared to when young and energy doesnt get stored) I would say it has more to do with your perception. As you age, you see people around you eating the same and you want in as your mind percieves it as being better. Same with me and chicken(im vegetarian now). I only ate the chicken breasts but once i joined a Boys hostel, no way i was giving up my 5 pieces of rationed meat just beacuse i dont like em. It was either eat it or watch your friends enjoy your portion and no way those cunts getting my meat 😂
