Is this “Keto Breath”?

I’ve done plenty of 48 and 72 hour fasts in the past, and even the occasionally OMAD or 18:6. I just recently started experimenting with longer 5/6 day fasts, and I have the oddest taste in my mouth. I know it’s not an oral hygiene issue because I’m brushing twice a day, flossing and tongue scraping. I am slightly confused because I’ve heard “keto breath” described as being like acetone, and I don’t feel like that is what I have. What could be going on?

Answer

I started having weird breath and like almost a tongue coating thing start going on when I amped up into longer fasts. I researched it, and it’s totally normal. Has something to do with how you process out fat cells your body has accessed and emptied out. It goes away as soon as you start eating again. One of the unexpected benefits of this pandemic has been the ability to stealth with the fasting stank breath thanks to the masks lol
