What do you think?
Water is water. No matter what temperature liquid water is, it’s still H2O. If it’s cold, it will require nominally more calories to process… but don’t feel like you can go eating ice cream after every meal just because your water is colder!
From an eastern medicine perspective, the purpose of the stomach is to rot and ripen the food. Things that are further along in that process, like warm water, are considered better. Too many cold-temperate foods are believed to be the cause of stomach issues. Occasional cold water is ok, but all the time would be considered not ok.
Warm water that’s ever-so-slightly steaming I like best for helping fill up my stomach when I’m feeling hungry, room temperature water for rehydrating, and cold water when I’m feeling thirsty
At least that’s what I do
Depends on your body’s needs, I know I need chilling cold water after the gym or during because I get overheated or on a really hot day. On a cold day hot tea or warm liquids and soups are better because cold constricts my throat when it’s below freezing or near freezing weather. And of course there are medical conditions that would need to be considered like rosacea and others.
Depends on whether you are trying to lose weight or not.
Conservation of energy requires that the colder the water, the more energy your body must burn in order to maintain stable body temperature.
Consequently, drinking colder water literally makes you lose weight faster.
There was an old Japanese martial arts master who was convinced that cold or hot water was worse for the body and promoted cancer, I’ve heard some supportive evidence of this over the years but have no links on me. I would suppose though that anything that damages the cells of your esophagus or stomach lining could do this, over time.
It’s a common observation also prescribed in ayurveda but unfortunately not supported by multi million dollar research. Why would weight loss pills sell or gyms be in demand if you can reduce fat by just changing the temperature of your water.
