January 30-day Fast

I’m going to start fasting January 2nd with the goal of going for 30 days. Anyone else starting off the new year with a fast?

Update 12/30: Wow this got a lot of engagement! A lot of good points about taking this slow - a little background: I have done multiple extended fasts in the past (3 days through more than a week), so I feel confident that I can handle a longer fast. With that said, I have a jar of pickles on tap if I do decided to break early! (my fav way to end is pickles, followed later by a cucumber, tomato, and mozzarella salad). Anyway, if you all want to keep posting here I can edit the post every couple days as long as it’s getting engagement. Happy fasting! Be safe.

Fucking hell I’m in. I’ve ended 2021 as a ghost of who I was in March 2020. I’m so angry at what this pandemic has done to me and I need to channel that anger into something that gets results. I’m down to reset.

Answer

I’m with you! I already started prepping my body this week with keto and OMAD.

I failed last month due to health issues and then decided to give myself a break for the holidays, but I’m ready now and what’s more fitting than the start of a new year!

I’ll do rolling 6s or 7s with you for 30 days starting Jan 1. I just got off a 5 day and had no refeed issues and oddly haven’t gained weight back (am eating low carb). Since I know it works for me want to stick to that vs a true 30.

It’s the 31st here, so I ‘want’ to fast today and then continue into 2022.

That way, I end the year on a fast and start the year on a fast - it’s easier for me since I have 0 social life but I do have uncontrollable eating habits >.>

so we’ll see

I’m in! It’ll be great to have people to share the experience with.I’ve already started and am on the second day. Was planning on starting on the first of the year, but I’m out of groceries so why not get a head start

Answer

Sounds good. I am in for shorter fasts in the new year with the goal of the last 15 pounds or so to go. I also want to set up plans and habits for maintenance when I finally get there hopefully in the spring.

I am in hour 39 of a fast which I will break this evening. I was planning to do another day but it is oddly harder to fast when the weather is cold and dreary.

Cannot do anything approaching a 30 day but I am amazed at those who can.

Would also like to join in. Started at midnight (it’s 2:15am right now). Highest I’ve done is 11 days so not too sure about going the whole of Jan but I like having a challenging end goal. Will try and update each day.

ETA: unfortunately, due to an unexpected family emergency, I wasn’t able to start until 9pm 3rd Jan. Will update from this point on with each completed day. 👍🏼

I want to! We do fasts as part of my culture and I’m wanting to do it. Especially cos my doc okay’d it and said a long one could help autophagy reduce inflammation for an autoimmune condition i have! I’m so excited to have his go-ahead. He didn’t specify length though. Longest I’ve done is 10days. He had said that was okay. Traditionally we do four days in my culture but some people go longer.

Answer

I’m not sure I’ll go the full 30 mostly because of migraines and insomnia but I want to try to fast as many days as I can. I’ll likely try to hit a minimum of 72-96 hours and then restart but I’m hoping for longer. I’ll end if I don’t feel well but if I can do the 30 day and still sleep and function, I’d freaking love to do it!!!

All the best to your new journey. May all our weight loss resolutions are fulfilled this time ❤️

I am on a 10 day fast starting yesterday. 🙈 My tongue gets coated with this weird white smelly layer which has to be cleaned like every 6-8 hours 🤮

Hi, great motivation! I plan on doing 3 days each week and cut out alcohol for the month. I’m a little nervous but also excited. How are you feeling about it? Will you be posting updates? Good luck, you got this!
