Not only have i failed my fast, im pretty sure I ate the wrong foods and my stomach hurts bad. Its true what people say about day 3, and i felt so tired and fatigued all day today, school was a nightmare😩 Any tips on feeling less lethargic, getting through day 3 and what foods to eat to break a fast effectively?
The great thing about fasting is you can’t fail! You had a successful 3 day fast! Agree with the keto tips above. I’d also recommend breaking your fast with something small like bone broth or a few Oz of lean meat then waiting for a bit to have a full meal. I found this helped me to minimize GI discomfort
Yes, break it with keto.
I know it is easier said than done, but it makes HUGE difference. First, you don’t feel as sluggish after the meal since you don’t have an insulin spike. Similarly, you don’t get out of ketosis, and thus the next fast essentially starts at the second day, since you don’t have to go through the keto flu again. It also keeps you full for a longer period of time because of the high fat and protein content, so you don’t feel as much hunger through the hardest periods (first and second day).

As far as being tired during the beginning of the fast, that’s a lot due to the keto flu, but a part might be due to lack of electrolytes or being dehydrated - keep an eye for that. You should also sleep more if your body is asking for that - take the time you are not spending making meals/eating/grocery shopping/etc, and add half an hour to your sleeping time. It does make a large difference! It might also be the case that you are not being able to sleep well. In this case, take some magnesium before bed and try to stay away from caffeine for a few hours (I do at least 8) before bed, and no screens or whatnot one hour before bed.
Wouldnt consider it a failure, now you know day 3 is hard and that you should break it a certain way. Try having day 3 land on a weekend you might have better luck. Maybe with school or eventually work, prolonged fasts arent sustainable. Multiple 2-3 day fasts might suit you better. Its all about finding something that works for you.
