Just finished 3-day fast/ looking for new daily/ weekly routine

There is so much to learn, and so many different systems and opinions. Some people say you should only eat early in the day. However, my husband doesn’t get home from work until 7:30 on some days and we like to eat together. I wonder if everyone here eats early in the day or if there are other possible systems.

Another concern is that I like to drink milk kefir at bedtime, as it enables me to sleep much more deeply and soundly.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I eat on an OMAD schedule with one meal at around 11 am. I eat around 1400 calories within a two hour window. I have a fair amount of weight to lose and a sedentary job so this is appropriate for me. I used to eat at night but switched because I felt the stress of pushing myself past my comfort level of hunger each day was creating too much stress and resulting in cravings for junk. It’s been much better since I switched to an earlier eating window. I find that I sleep better and wake up refreshed.

I would experiment and see what schedule works for your lifestyle. Unless you have serious goals for what you’re trying to achieve through fasting the schedule is up to you. I’ve had a snack in the evening on occasion and it didn’t derail my weight loss but I am aware that I lost hours of autophagy as a result. It’s a choice I make on occasion and that’s fine. The important part is that it’s sustainable for you.

I used to follow Jack Kruse’s ideas and ate breakfast when the sun came up. I would have 2-3 eggs and some bacon or ham cooked in butter, and coffee with HWC. If I ate that around 7 a.m. I wouldn’t feel hungry again until 1 or 2 p.m.

I do try to be done eating before sunset, to align with circadian rhythms. I’ve found if I eat two meals a day within no more than 8-9 hours, I can maintain my weight. If I want to lose weight, OMD works better day-to-day, with every other day fasting (72 hours) when I need to kick things up.
