Just finished my first 24-hour fast!

I started doing 16:8 IF about a month ago. I’ve actually been skipping breakfast for most of my life just out of personal preference/lack of hunger in the morning, but my downfall has always been late night snacks. Now, I don’t eat after 8pm if I can manage it and don’t start eating until the following afternoon.

Today, however, I simply wasn’t hungry when my 16 hours were up. I decided to see how far I could take it, and when I hit 21 hours, I committed to going for the whole 24. And I did it!

I never thought I’d be able to go 24 hours without eating anything, but it was surprisingly manageable. My stomach got a little growly in the last few hours, and I did take an electrolyte supplement to curb a tiny bit of lightheadedness, but other than that, I felt pretty good with just coffee in the morning, water, and sparkling water throughout the day.

I want to incorporate these into my weekly routine now that I know I can do it. I’m currently at a healthy weight and body fat percentage, but would like to lose about 10lbs to where my body feels best, so I’m hoping this will help get things headed in that direction for me.

How often do you all do 24-hour fasts like this? Any tips/stories? :)

Right on, congrats!

I’ll do 24 hours (dinner to dinner) a couple times a week nowadays. I like to OMAD, so early meal one day to later meal the next day is an easy 24.

As for not eating at all in a given day, only done that a few times, once just to prove that i could, and otherwise generally because life intervened. I’m actually thinking about doing one or two of these next month. I have a couple of all-day travel days, flying from 5am to like 9pm, so I’ll just be sitting all day. Seems like the perfect opportunity to take a day off and go for a 36+ hour fast.
