Just started IF and it’s going great but….

I seem to be really tensing my jaw. I decided to do IF because I need to lose about 20lb because I’ve gotten into the worst habit of snacking on around 600calories of snacks (chocolate) every single day since Covid started and gained ally of weight :(

Me and my hubby are doing this together and our minds are really focused and we are doing great so far but during the time periods I normally snack my mouth and jaw are really tense and I find myself waking up in the night grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw ): I think it’s a little bit of anxiety from not snacking on sugary snacks

How can I stop this or do you think it will just go away? It’s been 2 weeks since I started eating healthy

Answer

Try adding a magnesium supplement in. Kind of off subject but it helped me- I recently got braces and have had a hard time clenching my jaw while sleeping. My dentist suggested magnesium. It’s helped me noticeably, worth a shot I’d say.

Answer

You can try progressive muscle relaxation, there’s some guided YouTube videos you can listen to. Maybe drinking herbal tea before bed like chamomile can help if you feel it may be a bit of anxiety as well.

It takes some time to acclimate. Unless you feel like this is doing damage, I wouldn’t be overly concerned. You might look into some mindfulness meditation, yoga, or even good old fashioned rolls in the hay to improved your mood and reduce anxiety.

When you eat, focus on eating tastey healthy foods and getting full once a day. Pretty quickly I found hunger and signals to eat crappy food got less and less.

Answer

Magnesium. If you’ve been in a pre Diabetic or diabetic state you’re using up alot of Magnesium. I only learned about this after I started fasting. I found Magnesium before I started fasting. I have pms I’ve been trying to improve and would try one month stints of changing only one thing to see its affects. When I added Magnesium I noticed my habit of grinding my teeth, which got worse around my period, stopped. I take Magnesium Oxide and have since also added calcium.
