Just starting out

I’m a 45 yo female 5’8” (170lbs) who is just starting out. I am currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer with a short pause due to Covid. Not that things aren’t stressful enough for me, but I’m going to try IF for the first time. Chemo and the associated meds (along with less exercise) have made me gain a lot of weight so I’m ready to start.

Any kind words or motivational thoughts for somebody in my place would be appreciated. If anybody had a similar experience, I’d love to hear about that too.

Silver award (it’s all I have to give) and some kind words coming your way. Sounds like you’re going through a tough time. I hope IF simplifies your life rather than adding onto your existing stresses. I’ve certainly found it reduces stress for me anyway. Sending you warm wishes and motivation. You’ve got this!

Answer

Just wanted to say hello and wishing you a speedy recovery and that IF works for you and improves the quality of your life. I’m not experienced with IF for cancer but do IF + keto to help me manage other medical issues (PCOS, ADHD, anxiety and depression).

The best thing I can say is that you’ve got this! Take it one day at a time, and be compassionate with yourself. Everything else will fall into place. You’re more than capable, and best of luck!

I follow Dr. Jason Fung and he talks about the benefits of IF in relation to cancer in his book The Complete Guide To Fasting. He and his colleague Megan Ramos have tons of free YouTube videos on IF and fasting. I’d definitely talk tp your doctor, but I hope you find the info helpful. Sending hugs and best wishes your way . ❤️
