Hi everyone! I just recently started to do IF. Since im only eating 2 meals a day,im planning to switch to Keto diet which is mostly fat 70% and some protien.
The ones who did Fasting + Keto how was your experience?
I’ve been keto for 3 years and doing water fasts (nothing longer than 72h yet) since April. I think keto definitely helps with fasting as you get into the state of ketosis sooner. People well adapted to keto are already burning fat for fuel so for some fasting is the next logical step.
Personally I already found it pretty easy to fall into one meal a day from keto without even trying as the hunger just isn’t there compared to a carb rich diet where you can be a slave to your blood sugar.
Currently doing OMAD + Keto. So far it’s pretty great!
I started with keto and it definitely made my fasts much easier than before. The 1 to 2 days after I have more carbs on a refeed aren’t as easy. I also do strength training for an hour 4 days a week with cardio everyday and have been able to maintain that no problem.
I’d also say the weightless is pretty significant too.
This is what I’m doing. Imo being used to ketosis makes fasting much easier. In the past, on a carb heavy diet, fasting was much harder for me. In ketosis the cravings are just not there, since the body has adjusted to burning fat and not sugar. Fat being present in excess in the body. It took about two days for me to adjust to keto. Day 1 i needed a keto friendly sweet treat to wean myself off of carbs and the craving for carbs. No big deal.
