Keto during the week and Carbs during weekends.

Hi all, I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for a couple of years now. Both during keto and with carbs. I do OMAD and it benefits my lifestyle and schedule. The difference I noticed with fasting on Keto and on carbs is that during Keto, I am rarely hungry with minimal hunger pains. Fasting on Carbs is somewhat a nightmare; I’m always hungry and the hunger pains are intense.

This is the reason I want to try Fasting on Keto during the week and Carbs on weekends. I want to have very little hunger pains during the week and I want to also lower my carbs without wanting to be fat adapted. Also I want to enjoy what I eat on weekends and not restrict/worry myself on what I want to eat especially if I go out.

Will doing this be safe?

Answer

Im far from an expert and dont do keto, but from my limited understanding -

it takes a while for your body to go into ketosis. like a few weeks. if you eat carbs on the weekend your body will never be in ketosis, aka keto.

if you want to eat a keto based diet for the heck of it, go ahead, but ur not going to be in ketosis / really doing keto. it would be like doing a 16 hour fast but eating an apple after hour 8

Answer

My wife and I did keto for two years. Now we are in maintainence. We still keep our carbs down through the week and let loose a little on the weekends. We still avoid sugars when we can and keep the carbs reasonable. Your scale and how your body feels will let you know what you can get away with.
