lean meat during a fast

hi, made this account specifically to ask this question because i couldnt find any info about it online. i’ve been lurking here for a while and i have done extended fasts before (highest was 80h) and i know my electrolytes, but i still struggle with hunger very much. so here’s my question:

if i eat some thinly sliced meat during my fast, lets say 100g of chicken fillet with 100cals, 2g of fat, 1g of carbs and 28g of protein, how would that affect my fast?

all i ever read about are glucose levels and insulin, but since this barely has any carbs, that part should not be an issue. i’m fasting mainly for weight loss but the other benefits would be nice of course. this wouldn’t knock me out of ketosis, so what harm could it do / what disadvantages would it have compared to not eating anything at all? sometimes the urge to eat becomes so strong that i can’t help but binge (generally binge-eating is a big problem for me), but if, in those moments, instead of slamming down a bar of chocolate and twenty-three pieces of toast, i could eat said meat, i think that might really help me cope and get used to longer fasts. would appreciate any and all input! thank you :)

Answer

As you’ve written, eating ends your fast but still keeps you in the ketosis/low-carb zone. Starting a new fast will be easier as you will not need to adapt to keto again.

Try some bouillon cubes (even beef-flavored ones) in a lot of hot water, with salt to taste. This will fill up your stomach and provide you the salt that will help with the urges.
