Answer

I’m not a fan of anything but water on fasting days and I did not start out with water only.

So you need to do what works for you.

With fasting you are either burning fuel via fat or via what you eat.

Many people go to water fasting because it burns fat only. It’s a choice about what pace you are going to proceed.

You might consider skipping psyllium or chia or flax and just increasing your Magnesium intake if constipation is your only concern.

50 % of Americans are Magnesium deficient.

Magnesium citrate is a good source, in expensive and readily available. Is the most beneficial as a laxative.

Magnesium oxide (milk of magnesia) is not as bio available so not a great choice. Your body absorbs less than 5%.

Magnesium glycinate is easy to absorb, a bit more expensive and helps promote calm and sleep.
