Isn’t this technically Coles whole idea? This one does come flavored maybe it could be good for beginners. Do you guys think it would work the same way? I’m think about buying some and experimenting with it.
Unpopular opinion, but I’d say it’d probably work just fine. The idea that you need an exact amount of salts per serving is bullshit. It’s more important to make sure you get a certain amount of sodium and potassium per day than per serving. Recently I’ve been drinking Ultima Replenisher, which I’m sure people here will shit on me for (and I don’t care), which has way less of everything per serving than LMNT does but I drink it frequently throughout the day and I feel as good on it as I do with Snake Juice. Some people need more salts, some less. That’s why these electrolyte drink recipes should be considered as guidelines rather than a one size fits all.
People treat this shit like it’s a religion. Try shit out and see if it works for you. Snake Juice is more economical, but I’ve found that commercial electrolyte powders (that don’t have sugar) work fine for me. Even the ones that have stevia. The reason I’ve got a jar of Ultima is sometimes I travel and I forget to bring a snake juice mix with me, so it’s just convenient to stop at a store like Sprouts and buy a tub of whatever non-sugar electrolyte.
EDIT: And no, stevia is wildly unlikely to prevent ketosis or autophagy. Stevia would need to be a complete protein. For me, I consume plenty of stevia and I’m still in the dark purple on my ketone strips no matter what. The only concerns people should have about low calorie sweeteners is whether they have an insulin response and whether the sweetness causes cravings. Stevia doesn’t cause an insulin response. As far as cravings, that’s up to the individual. I can have sweet electrolytes, but I’ve built up the discipline to no then immediately scarf down a jelly doughnut.
I’ve bought them for refeeding days, but not for actual fasting days. The amount of Potassium is nowhere near enough, and since it’s Stevia Leaf, Not Stevia glycerite, I would be weary of it breaking the Autophagy aspect of the 72hr fast.
