Long term fasts

Hey, lovelies! I’ve been fasting 18:6 / OMAD for almost 3 months. I don’t have too much to lose so it’s been slow progress. Actually I ended up gaining back some of the weight during the holidays (oops, but I’m also hoping a little bit of the extra weight is from my period).

Anyways, I have a question for you all. Do you recommend long term fasts? Like 3-5 days? What were your experiences?

I did a 5 day fast back in October and will start one again tomorrow if you care to join!

I do 18/6 every day already and occasionally OMAD and believe that helps with the mental hurdle with the longer fasts. I also do keto/low carb which helps avoid the carb flu and blood sugar issues. And I drank TONS of water each day.

Lastly, I had issues with jaw clenching around day 3 until I saw a post on the fasting sub that recommended taking calcium alongside the other electrolytes. So I bought a calcium/mag/potassium supplement and that fixed the issue. So if you encounter something similar I’d suggest checking out the other posts before throwing in the towel.

Hope this helps!

I was doing OMAD and 20:4 and was struggling to lose so I tried a 5 day fast. It wasn’t hard after day 3.

In the month of December, I had a 5 day trip to Maui for my daughters wedding and many dinners out / holiday meals where I ate what I wanted (mostly low carb) and drank copious amounts of wine.

Even after all that, I lost 4 lbs in December and feel like I’ve found the magic key to keep losing. I did 2 5 day fasts and one 3 day.

Give it a try and see what works for you! For me, it’s easier to do 5 days during the work week and ref Ed on the weekends.

Ive done 3 days. If you’re heavier and have the reserves, go for it. Its not hard, just make sure ti self educate about suppliments for electrolytes.

Omad is my normal. 23/1 so a 72 is just skipping 2 meals:)
