This morning I completed my first 60 hour fast. For the past two months I’ve pretty regularly done ADF during weekdays, but I decided to challenge myself a bit and go 60 hours. Honestly it wasn’t that bad. I went to the gym and did cardio both days keeping my heart rate over 140 both times for one hour.
The first day was pretty chill nothing special because I was used to it. The second day was a little weird, I sort of felt indifferent most of the day. Not super energetic not super hungry just sort of a constant lingering desire for food. As long as I kept myself busy I didn’t feel anything.
I drank about 4 liters of water both days and two cups of black coffee each day.
I broke my fast with a light soup and about 20g of almonds. Then one hour later I ate about 400 calories worth of chicken breast and fruits.
No diarrhea, yet… but I have felt my stomach be a little weird.
That’s great. It seems like you paid close attention to how you were doing, which is important.
I do rolling ADF and will do 60 hour fasts when I need to switch my days up to accommodate an upcoming dinner event or something where I’m going to have to make it an eating day. I try to limit it to once every couple months. I’ve got plenty of fat to burn, so I know I can handle the calorie production.
My first one was kind of tough. I definitely felt the energy start to sag about 45 to 50 hours into it. Felt kind of loopy the afternoon of day2. Recovery was fine. I like having that tool in my toolbox for switching days up. It works better for me than two eating days in a row.
I think it’s good to challenge yourself once in a while as long as you pay attention to how you’re doing and bail at any sign of trouble.
