I’m about to start my period and I look bloated so what I’m seeing in the mirror is probably not the best way to interpret what progress I am currently making. I’m also into my second month of this lifestyle change (keto, fasting, IF, gym) and have sort of stalled out. My first month I lost all my water weight which equates to about 13 pounds, now the scale is telling me I’ve only lost another 2 pounds in the last three weeks.
I know stalls happen but I’m still feeling discouraged. Any advice on the dealing with the mental struggle of this would be so appreciated and I’m sure motivating. 💓
Women can gain up to 8 lbs during their period!! This always helps me remember that what the scale and mirror say during this time may not reflect what my body will be after my period is over. Being moody and bloated is so discouraging, but as long as you stick to the plan you should expect to continue to see results after the bloating monster and hormonal emotions are gone. You can do it!!
What are you doing? OMAD? Or longer fasts? My daughter feels better doing a fast one day before her cycle and ending it with keto the last day of her cycle. She swears that she has less bloat. No matter what your calorie count is, limit your eating time. A 3-4 day fast usually breaks plateaus. I’m a data freak and need to track the scale and hip and waist.
I feel you!
I dropped the first 5kg in the first month. now I’ve been going up and down between a 2kg range. it’s discouraging, but it’s part of th journey.
keep it up! take it one pound at a time <3

When this happens to me, I remind myself gently that it took literally years to get out of shape so I should have no expectation of getting back into shape quickly.

So mathematically speaking, 4 pounds every 6 weeks, 8 pounds every 12, 16 pounds every 24 weeks (6 months-ish).
143-16=127
Would you take that deal? 6 months from now being 2 pounds away from your goal? Of course there’s a chance the math may be wrong and six months from now you’re 5 pounds away instead of only 2.
If that’s the case, you can always just return to your old lifestyle. I know mine is waiting there for me. With open arms.
“Welcome back, buddy! How about some ice cream and Netflix? Just like old times?”
If your goal is really lifestyle change, there are dozens of other metrics by which to measure such a thing. Find them and focus on them.
Bathroom scales are for measuring weight loss, not lifestyle change.
