I’m going to start doing this and am attempting to do 16:8 fast. My meal plan is going to consist of 2 meals a day. My meal plan looks like it should be about 1600 cals a day. What are some pitfalls to avoid and i know that i have to eat in that 8 window which will be 11 to 7. I’m wondering i can eat anytime during that timeframe correct? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer

Intermittent fasting worked wonders for me, since it stopped me snacking and eating needlessly throughout the day, I’ve been doing 18:6 or 20:4 for 12 months now.

Aiming for 2 meals a day, and cutting snacking and grazing out completely.

One meal a day didn’t work very well for me, where 2 is perfectly sustainable.

Your first meal should be smallish, where the second one can be larger. Mainly because your first meal is on a completely empty stomach and I find that if I eat too much on that one, I want to eat even more later rather than less. - that may not be a universal thing though.

Expect to be hungry, I ensure I’ve got diet soda on hand, it can hydrate while also helping with the sensation of hunger. While having like 0 kcals :)

If you occasionally slip an extra meal in, don’t beat yourself up. One day here and there won’t harm, compared to your eating habits before IF, you’ll still be kicking ass.

I have kept it up for 11, nearly 12 months now. And I’ve gone from 27st 3lbs. To 16st 4lbs. Which is very nearly 11st lost. Entire adult humans can weigh 11st, I’m a whole person less of a man. IF and calorie control works. It’s difficult and occasionally unpleasant, but I can’t argue with the results.

I sincerely wish you the very best of luck with your journey. The main reason IF works for me, is because limiting calories is significantly easier to do if I’m only eating twice a day, rather than grazing continually.

Stick to it, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t stick to it every day. While you are making continual effort, you will automatically be doing way better than your eating habits before trying. You are allowed to eat your favourite foods occasionally, improving your overall habits and “cheating” one day here and there is more sustainable than permanently feeling like your restricting yourself and getting frustrated. Over time, you can reduce your portion sizes in a natural way, rather than doing all the changes at one time it is easier to live with gradually rather than doing it all at once. Sustainability is more important than strictly adhering to huge changes for a short time.
