30+f, 169cm, gw 70kg, cw 72-75kg, still. For the last year. In the tail end of 2021 I’ve done a month of cycling abt a 100km a week, and since november I got new job and walk abt 6000 steps a day of mo-fr.
Not even all the cycling got me to drop. I’m purposefully taking bathroom breaks several floors down to walk stairs. Daily intake 1300 ish. Often less now. Mediterranean diet, mostly veg. Weight is holding stable. Even when eating below 50 carbs. 16-17-18-20 hour fasts. I see 72kg? Next day I see 75, even after 1100 low carb day.
But the absolute maddening thing that makes me wonder if I’m being punked is my belt: a few weeks ago I punched a new hole in it, cinching it tight b4 I could see it had room for 1 (and a half). It was snug. Now I pull on the belt and again it shows room for 1 and a half new holes. This thing is a year old and it now has 7 new holes!!
I know, I gotta measure my waist with a rope and log it. I gotta add cycling and weights on top of the (free) steps. This is just so absurd.
But… anyone else got a magical belt?
In my humble experience cardio did few for the weight reduction. IF with weight lifting did. Figural speaking “meat eats fat” - muscle are more energy demanding so you would get to your caloric deficit sooner if you grow some muscles. P.S. Of course cardio is important for general fitness and longevity.
You are retaining water. Here is a link to a reddit post that goes into detail about this particular adaptation to cardio exercise.

I hope this helps! Your activity level is very inspiring, keep it up!
A slowed down metabolism because of cutting calories for so long? Below is a talk by Jason Fung (he’s pro fasting, written several books on it), I linked to the spot about metabolism.https://youtu.be/7nJgHBbEgsE?t=1217
