Low blood pressure

I’ve noticed that while fasting I have a heart rate in the mid to upper 50s. However when I stand up my heart rate shoots up right away to over 120. It sounds like pots but I have never experienced this before. I don’t have any symptoms when it happens I just notice it on my watch. I assume this is due to low blood pressure. I drink a few litres of water with LMNT packets in them. They are 1000mg sodium each and I’ll have about 4 throughout the day. I would have thought that would be enough. No arrhythmias sitting down or standing up. I’ve fasted in the past but this is the shortest periods of time between 7 day fasts that I’ve done. My fast breaks tomorrow so I’ll find out if that’s what is causing it. Has anyone had this issue before? I assume it’s low blood pressure and sodium effects blood pressure. Should I be taking more in or could there be another cause to my issue?

Answer

That’s about double the normal allowance of sodium. I’d chill on that. My resting HR is also 50s while fasting but the shooting up to 120 is a sign of orthostatics. Get a BP cuff and see if the pressure drops over 20 points one or two minutes after standing.
