Hard to suggest without knowing where you live and so on. But generally your best bet is to simply call local restaurants and ask or see if there are any local guides about low salt restaurants. Maybe even pose the question to your doctor.

It is hard though because at least in America, most restaurants load their food with salt because salt is where the flavor is. I forgot the exact numbers but I stopped adding the soyrizo chipotle offers to my bowls/salad’s because that alone added something like 1200mg of sodium and our daily “normal” intake limit is around 2300mg.

So basically, it’s best to call ahead to restaurants you are wanting to go to and ask if they have low sodium options so you can start making notes of where and what you can eat. I have to do the same as a vegetarian. You would think most people would offer at least a meat free salad only to find out 80% of the salads are pre mixed 😪

Answer

Following. I have health reasons for a low salt diet. Dr. Approved. When we do go out to eat or get take out I end up dying of thirst all night long because of the huge amount of salt in the dinners. Fresh Salad seems to be the only reprieve minus the dressing unless you use fresh lemon or lime. Would really love low salt options. And low sugar or no hidden sugar options. (Spaghetti sauce) One restaurant had so much sugar in their spaghetti sauce it spiked my blood sugar.

I would search online to see if the restaurant you have in mind has a menu you can see with the nutrition breakdown. The chain restaurants typically have that info online (in U.S., can’t speak for other locations). But in general, yes food at restaurants is going to be higher in salt. Even an entree salad — depending on the other ingredients and dressing they add to the vegetables. Call the restaurant if you can’t find info online.

You can look this up at calorieking.com. Just enter the food’s name (ex: “Big Mac”) and scroll slightly down on the result page to see the sodium content (1010mg) in the “Nutrition Facts” section. This site also gives you protein, fat, carb, and calorie breakdowns for each fast food dish.

If you have liver disease or ascites, eating out isn’t really an option.

If it’s for blood pressure alone you should probably either get diagnosed with hypertension and have your doc prescribe a medication for that, or start a workout routine to lose weight.

Unless you eat exorbitant amounts of fast food or something easy to cut out of your diet, dieting to reduce sodium intake for BP kind of sucks (I have been on an ACE inhibitor and have had high BP for many years). What helped me was quitting energy drinks and booze, but I still had to start working out to quit taking the ACE inhibitor.

All the stuff that is fun to do kills you (except weed for some reason). You are not me though, and I am not a doctor so best advice I have is talk to a doctor

Answer

Yo man, its Just my humble opinion, but i also reduced my bloodpressure to a normal state, Had really high bp. Made it by quitting drinking, quitting cigs, drugs, loosing 40 kg and doing lots and lots of cardio, also fixed diet and stopped eating Junk. Do you have a healthy Lifestyle ? If Not, Salt is probably you smallest issue and you should rather foocus on other stuff, good luck
