Will magnesium glycinate break a long term water fast? If so what type is best? What about magnesium citrate?
Magnesium glycinate will not break your fast. Both Glycinate and citrate are OK, but have slightly different profiles, effects, etc. The short version is that Magnesium Glycinate is better if you suffer from insomnia, which can happen during fasting, but is optimal taken long-term. Magnesium Citrate is better for rapid absorption and bioavailability, and also if you want a laxative effect. Also, if mixing the powders into water, citrate dissolves in hot water much more completely than glycinate, which can have a very sandy texture.
