Managing period while fasting

Ladies, has anyone whose period has been affected by IF managed to get their period under control? If you have, what black magic did you use?

I’ve started IF for about month. Started off with OMAD/20:4 on the last week before my period. My period is usually fairly stable. But my period didn’t start when the time came last month, so I got scared and switched to 16:8. My period started a few days after that.

I think 20:4 gave me the best balance of losing weight and fitting into my lifestyle, but I want my period. Ideally I would like to keep doing 20:4 for the entire month, or at least the time I am not on my period. My BMI is at the border of healthy/obese. I am in my late 30s and don’t want IF to trigger early menopause or anything (would it?). I don’t have a stressful lifestyle and nothing else changed last month.

I heard flaxseed/soy products give estrogen a boost. Would it help if I eat more flaxseeds/soy products before my period?

Go lighter on your fasting the week before your period. Look up Dr Mindy Pelz. Once you get your period you can go hard on the fasts again.

I do between 18:6 to 20:4 3 weeks of the month but the week before my period I try to avoid putting my body under too much stress.
