Has anyone had sucess fasting their way into ketosis and mantaining ketone levels for a few days at a time? what works well for you? any pitfalls?
My plan is to follow a low carb (80g) mediteranean diet and alternate into ketosis about twice a month. Hoping the low carbs will reduce cravings overall. The cycle will start with a prep day (>50g) followed by a fast into ketosis. Once there I’ll stick with no carb foods for 2 - ?? days.
I also plan on intermittently fasting a couple of mornings every week to ensure that I don’t lose my fat adaptation from following the ketogenic diet for 3 months. Does this sound like a solid plan? Anyone have general advice for managing blood glucose under these conditions?
I’m able to achieve multi-day highly therapeutic GKI levels with fasting and keto. One caveat I’ve experienced is adrenal fatigue, where the body has trouble adapting to stress. It’s caused by the constant low levels of cortisol the body produces when blood sugar is low. So make sure that when you eat you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals that support healthy adrenal glands.
