Medication and breaking the fast?

Hi there, I’ve been IF for a while now and lost about 4kg and been feeling so physically well for doing it. I suggested it to my sister and she thinks her medication chlorpromazine will break her fast. A quick google and a scan of a journal article stated that it showed a slight increase in blood glucose but nil secretion of insulin. I’m not really literate in these papers due to the complex language used. Anyone have experience with the use of this mediation and whether the fast will be broken? Thanks In advance!

Answer

If a medication is prescribed, it has to be taken as prescribed, even if it’s with food. Changes on how a person takes the meds needs to be talked over with their doctor or pharmacist.

Meds in pill form don’t have enough soy (the usual packing material the meds are in) to worry about. Gummies, liquids, or chewables might break the fast. But I wouldn’t worry about pills.

As always, read the instructions and follow them.
