meds on an empty stomach

I’ve got long covid and I’ve been doing some 48-72 hour fasts as it is meant to help with the recovery process. I’d like to do some longer fasts but unfortunately I take meds twice a day (antibiotics) which I am meant to have with food. I’ve been managing for a shorter time period on an empty stomach with a stomach protector (famotidine) but any longer than a couple days and I don’t think this is a good idea. Any tips for fasting while taking meds? Is there an amount of food I can consume without breaking autophagy?

Answer

I have been doing weekly 60 hour fasts for long Covid. I continue to take all my supplements on an empty stomach with loooots of water. I’m not on any prescriptions, but I take ALOT of supplements. I think antibiotics are mainly suggested to be taken with food to avoid GI upset, maybe check with your pharmacist to confirm if that’s the reason? If so you could try it on empty and just see how you feel, maybe not while fasting so if you do experience an upset tummy you could go ahead and eat to settle your stomach.
