Milled health foods

Milled Flaxseed and chia seeds. Anyone here eat these? In a drink, they taste very bitter/rancid/(not sure how to describe it). Brand new, unexpired. Guess they’re still safe to eat? Does going bad means they lost 100% of the nutrition?

Seems like they gone bad somehow. They’re very senstive to oxygen. May be only the food taken out of package have gone bad. But rest of package may still be fine.

Do you have to eat it right away after using some in a package? Like within a short time? (5-10 mins?)

Are you suppose to consume it right away or something? Does the oxygen destory all nuritients in Milled Flaxseed and chia seeds?

Rest of package may still be fine. How do you taste test rest of package to see if any in package have gone bad or if they’re fine? They dont smell bad or anything, and if they’re rancid, they’re suppose smell bad?

Answer

I eat my Chia seeds while but my understanding of flaxseed is if you buy it milled, you need to store it in the fridge and not in a cupboard/room temperature. The reason for that is when the seed is milled, oils get released and if not stored properly, will go rancid. Milled flaxseeds shouldn’t taste bitter or rancid. They may have gone bad.
