Seven months ago I was at my heaviest weight ever, 180 lbs. I felt bloated, tired, had chronic migraines, and was prediabetic. But all that changed on August 1st when I decided to commit to alternate day fasting.
I heard a podcast by Dr. Jason Fung’s coworker Megan Ramos. She was Dr. Fung’s very first fasting patient and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at just age 27. Dr. Fung told her to begin alternate day fasting. Here’s what Megan said: “I thought of my fast days as medical treatment. Just as I wouldn’t skip your chemo therapy treatments if I had cancer, neither did I skip any fast days.”
I clung to that idea. I decided that I was going to fast all day Mon/Wed/Fri no matter what. I didn’t care if the Queen of Sheba was coming for dinner, I stuck to the plan. Seven months later I’m down 45 lbs and I now weigh 135. I went from a size 14 to a size 2 and I lost 8 inches off my waist. I did not exercise.

But more than just weight loss, the migraines I’ve had for 25 years are gone as well as a bladder inflammatory condition called interstitial cystitis. I now wake up in the morning refreshed instead of feeling drugged. My carb/sugar addiction is completely gone. I have so much clarity of mind. I feel like I’m 20.
I encourage you to find a fasting protocol and cling to it like crazy. I believe you can do something hard.
If you’re confused by ADF, here’s a chart. Dr. Fung calls it the “gold standard” for weight loss. The 36 hour fast helped me break through carb addiction and lower my high insulin.

Add extra salt, eat protein/animal fat first and to full satiety, and drink bone broth.
