My First 36 hour Fasting

Hi everyone,

I have been doing 24 hr, 20:4, 22:2, and OMAD consistently for the past 6 - 8 weeks but wasn’t there mentally to go over the 25 hour threshold.

I have been preparing myself this week to do my first 36+ hours fast starting today/ this evening. I am pretty motivated and I result driven so I don’t anticipate not finishing it. What I would like to hear from you all is, how was your experience and what would you recommend.

Thank you ❤️

If you’re feeling ready and motivated, and you’ve clearly spent time building yourself up to longer fasts, you’ve totally got this!

Have lots of coffee, tea, water, sparkling water, etc. readily available. Go into it EXCITED and plan how you want to break your fast so you don’t eat recklessly when 36 hours is up.

Best of luck, you can absolutely do this!

Mortons lite salt is by far my favorite sodium/ potassium supplement. I usually add 1/8 teaspoon per 24 oz (.5-1 gram/L). It really helped me with stiffness and cramping and I use it when not fasting now when working out and it seems to help .

I did one extended fast, where IIRC I made it to around 40 hours. I was around 4 months deep into my first stint with IF, and was comfortably doing OMAD every day. I decided one day to just try it. The only reason I stopped at 40 was I started letting anxiety build and get to me.

Started with “what if I don’t break the extended fast properly?” “man I need to make sure I know how to safely break the fast”… then I started thinking about eating. Before long, I went from zero hunger at 38 hours in to so hungry I was going to chew the door off the fridge.

I let the mental aspect beat me. The only thing that kept me from going 48 hours (or however long I wanted).

I’ve been fasting the first 4-5 days of each week since the beginning of February, and still continue to do it even now on March 8th. I’m still gonna continue to do it just because there’s no reason to stop now. I started at 272 lbs and as of now, I’m down to 243. I haven’t given up eating since I’ll just eat on the weekend, and ill just eat what i want to also. I’ll tell you, it’s tough getting over the craving of food as you’ll he filled with thoughts on what you want to eat and how you want to eat it. 36 hours, you can do this. It’s a test of your will to not give in to temptation. I’d say, if you don’t want to give up early, think about the weight or the size you wanna see yourself in.
