Need to lose fat (belly and chest) and gain mass muscle

Hello everyone. I (28 M) have recently started to retake my exercise routines after years of hiatus. I am under a basic, calorie and carb controlled diet with lots of protein. However, today I found out about this method and haven’t seen but good feedback about it. I wanted to as you where do you suggest I start for this goal? I do heavy weight and cardio exercise everyday already. Will intermittent fasting change the basic exercise routine? How’s your experience been for not only loosing weight but also significantly gaining mass muscle? I’d love if you could share and recommend a starting point.

I know I can Google but I wanted to know from people who have been in the spot and that have had first hand experience with this method and goals.

Thank you for reading and I’ll appreciate your suggestions!

Answer

I wouldn’t say ‘significant’ because it’s hard to put on that much muscle in a deficit, but I’ve certainly been able to add some while losing a fair amount of weight.

Mostly just keep working out, get your daily protein goal in, and don’t exceed 1% body weight a week is the best environment to maintain or possibly add some muscle.

Answer

I’m 52 years old and have lifted off and on for most of my adult life . Mostly power lifting but also body building and occasionally would slim down due to running. Unfortunately, there is no way (other than steroids) to gain muscle AND lose fat at the same time. Keep working out to maintain the muscle you already have while your doing IF until you get you body fat down and then build muscle . It’s like a cycle. Good luck

Answer

I think it’s a cycle do some solid fasting with clean eating and there’s the majority of your consistent “slow & steady” lifestyle weightless …

add to that long walks while fasting or exercising almost daily or lifting, and that will get you where you need to go, if you are fasting you’re losing over time, if you are working out then you are maintaining
