Hey guys I’m new to fasting. I want to achieve all the benefits and I have some questions. So anyone that workouts out here and liked gaining muscle how do you fast and eat your calories? Also does sleeping count as a fast? So let’s say I sleep for 8 hours a day will that 8 hours of just sleeping and not eating count as time in your fast?? And can I drink water?
Can I suggest you read some books on fasting before setting out, Friend? I’m sure many experienced fasters will chime in but I’ll start off your reading list with Dr. Joel Furhman’s “Fasting and Eating for Health” and Upton Sinclair’s “The Fasting Cure”. Of those two, Furhman’s text is more important and technically you would be very well prepared for a fast after a close reading. There are numerous fasting texts to explore and collect after that, many filled with suspect ideas and concepts, but historically significant and fascinating none-the-less, IMHO. Good luck and please consider what I suggest. Fasting is a smart man’s/woman’s game, my Friend. Educate thyself.
Yes sleeping hours counts as fasting. You can drink water and many people drink black coffee. Actually, I can’t stress enough how you should be drinking water when fasting and lots of it. Also has the benefit of keeping hunger at bay.
You just eat your calories during your eating window it’s nothing special. Your meals or snacks during the eating window just need to be high in protein and have enough calories to gain muscle.
Personally, I do not like to lift when fasted. Your mileage may vary but at least at the end of a fast I would feel week. First thing in the morning was fine but afternoons were a no go for me personally
