New to fasting, would appreciate any advice.

So I’m looking to work on fasting. Current goal is 3 days at a time, but I know it’ll take some time to work up to that. I’m just looking for any general advice you might have, or good resources you might know. Ty in advance.

Answer

My very first fast ever was 4 days. I may have had a few rough moments but I can tell you this; I was not any hungrier the 4th morning than I was the first one.

I think i can say that beforehand we were all intimidated by fasting. It is not really that hard and you learn to embrace it.

Answer

Consume electrolytes and water

Work your muscles slightly so body knows it must be preserved and instead choose fat to burn

Get something to do that you like a bit so you won’t be bored and ghrelin takes over you

Maybe begin with IF

See it as a battle against demons who are nothing for you,but take medical attention or consuming slow amounts of good foods if you feel it’s too much

Do tell us if the quality of your attention, mood and overall body improves as time goes, you got this!

I agree with Clock.

My advice is when you break your fast, allow yourself 4-6 hours and eat a little at a time. This may only be me, but having getting used to not eating while fasting, eating feels nauseating at first.

In other words, getting your body in a pattern of scarcity, don’t make a huge refeed meal and down it in one sitting.

Today was my eat day. I had 100 kcal of smoked salmon, about an ounce and a half, and a handful of kale. Of course the salmon tasted awesome, but I couldn’t finish the 3oz pack in one sitting. Two hours later I had half an avocado with 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil and the other half of the salmon. Two hours later, I had a small kale salad with 1/4 cup of crumbled white cheese.
