Hello. I’m new to IF (as in tomorrow makes it the beginning of week 3 for me). I’m not entirely new to IF, I did a few years ago and had great success with even a 15:9 window. This time it’s been rough. The hunger pains have been crazy but are finally more manageable, and I’ve finally gotten myself down to an 8 hour window this weekend. My end goal is either a 16:8 or a 17:7. I joined a few FB groups, and everyone was raving that they’ve lost at least 3 or 4 pounds in just their first week, or people are saying they at least lost inches. Some are saying they’ve had increased energy. Problem is, I’ve had none of those things. In fact, I’ve actually gained 4 pounds. Right now I’m calorie counting and stressing to the point I’m weighing myself every day, which I know isn’t healthy. I’m frustrated beyond belief that I just can’t seem to get myself together. Please note I’m not looking to lose 20 pounds a week or something, but at least 1 or 2 pounds or an inch off my waist would have been nice by now. I did try asking the FB groups I joined but basically got laughed at. What advice would you have for someone like me?
PS: The #1 thing I get told is drink more water. Believe me, I do and I drink at least 70 oz per day which is difficult. I am constantly reading labels on my foods, but definitely do not eat like a rabbit either.
Hi, I don’t know your background so this may not work for you but I have battled my weight for years and only been doing IF for 3 weeks but I have already learned that for me insulin and Carbs has been my stumbling block to losing weight.
Reading and watching Dr Jason Fung I have finally understood how hormones and insulin work with storing and using food for energy. Low carb and Fasting is working well for me so far, I am down 3kg in 3 weeks and is easier for me to do sustainable long term and a lifestyle.
