No longer have type 2 diabetes!!

I made a post here back in June and said I’ll be fasting to reverse type 2 diabetes. Well, I didn’t get to do that, as life got in the way. But, I have finally reversed my high blood sugar by fasting. For the last 4 months I have been doing intermittent fasting. I eat once a day every 24 hours. I have lost over 25 kg and got a blood test done last week and my A1C is 39, which means I’m non diabetic!! My last a1c was VERY high, I believe over 100. But I’m so happy to have a non diabetic a1c.

Hope this can motivate others in my situation.

I am not clear on what you failed to do, but it doesn’t really matter because my comment would be the same regardless.

The perfect is not the enemy of the good. What you have done is very good and exactly the sort of thing I like to hear.

Congratulations!! My mom has type 2 and she eats really clean, exercises and takes her medication. I would love to help her reverse it, did you consult with your doctor before fasting? And were you taking your medication while fasting?

Answer

Good job! I really wish we could encourage this more without stigma. It really can change lives. Sadly no one really knows how unhealthy they are until it’s too late. I’m not obese and have hyperinsulemia and my a1c was bordering diabetes. Working to reverse that now- you give me hope.

Congrats. My mom and i practice IF, ketogenic diet. She is 78 and has been on diabetes medication for 20 years. 3 years ago, she agreed to embark on this plan. Her a1c dropped from 9.3 to 6.3 in 8 months and she is doing very well on this plan. I dropped mine from 6.5 to 5.6 in the same time, reduced 30 pounds along the way. It is possible, but i would not call my reversed. If i go back to my old life style, my old numbers will be back in a jiffy.. Our bodies react the way they are designed to. Cutting refined carbs, fasting, walking , hiit, sleep all played a role.
