Nominal weight loss on dry fast

Hello, all,

I’m approaching 48 hours on a dry fast. Other than a quick shower yesterday, I’ve not come near water, let alone consume it. Absolutely no food either. Yet, I’m only down 2 lbs. I’m significantly overweight (by about 50 lbs), so I have plenty of weight to lose. Any thoughts on why I haven’t lost much weight? I’m concerned it may be a sign of my insulin being very high to begin with (but maybe I’m projecting because my great aunt just passed away a couple days ago from diabetes complications).

Answer

If you started your fast with a lot of glucose in your system it’ll take awhile to burn through before you start burning fat and releasing more water. I would say keep going if you feel up to it and add in some exercise to speed it up.
