Not much to lose but…

Hello! I have been doing IF (again) since October, but have lost about 2 pounds total.

I have about 20-25 pounds that I want to lose. It’s not insignificant, but it’s also less than a lot of people who want to lose weight.

I’ve read before that if you don’t have much to lose, it’s a lot harder.

Is this true, and if so, why?

I think it’s because the number of lbs you would like to lose is not necessarily the same as your body would like you to lose. Your body clings to those lbs. That’s not a scientific explanation I would give. There is some theory about set body weight in The Obesity Code by Jason Fung. I think you have to be very precise with what and how much you eat to lose those last lbs. Longer fast people find very helpful and a lot of patience. Good luck!

Larger people burn more calories, so reducing calories can cause quicker loss. Also I know for me my sw was 286 with a lot of hormone issues linked to my fat. Metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, pcos. The fasting had hugely helped reverse these conditions which has helped with fat loss and body recomposition, particularly reduction in visceral fat which was a result of these issues.

I’m guessing that it’s just the timing of you starting before Thanksgiving and Christmas. Give yourself a couple more months and keep a closer eye on your calorie intake. It’s practically impossible to lose weight during the holidays!
