November obese fasting

So I’m thinking a rolling 48 fasting Omad I’m 310 and desperately want to lose significant weight by November at least 4 inches around the belt 42-44 would be doable by then. I’m hoping I can lose weight so I’ll do whatever. It seems the only way I can. Should I do rolling 72 hours ie wvery 3 days?

Answer

Hello Ok_, it really depends on your previous experience with fasting.

How long have you fasted before? And when you say significant, how much weight are you thinking?

Fasting will make you lose weight if it’s your primary goal, but remember that results really depend on consistency. If you’ve never fasted more than sleep time before, I’d suggest starting with 20hours every day for a week or 2 and seeing how sustainable it is for you. It will also help you lose weight because it usually helps with cutting calories intake and controlling insulin among other things.

Whichever option you choose, just remember that this place is good for help and support.

Good luck !

Fasting is more a long term strategy. You could crash diet and just not eat and you’d lose weight, but the advantage fasting gives you is hormone control. Any weight you lose by just fasting for only a month will come back. Pick a fasting protocol you can live with for the long term and stick with it and you’ll lose weight.

I went from 332lbs to 205lbs in months following 2MAW (two meals a week). That worked incredibly well (long term average of more than 3.5lbs/week).

2MAW is similar to rolling 72s; I just preferred having the refeed days land on the same day of the week.

Regained 2/3 of it, but now I’m getting back into it and I’m doing “No Food November”.

I’m at the same weight and doing rolling 48/72 with OMAD and Keto. I lost 70 pounds on keto in 2018 with zero exercise but gained it all back because I stress eat and…. No exercise…. So this time am going back to keto with IF doing rolling fasts. Remember it’s all CICO so as long as you are in a deficit you will lose weight, just a matter of what you can handle time wise for your fasts.

After 48hrs you may as well go a week or more. The hard part is the first 48hrs IMO as you adjust from using glycogen in liver and switch to fuel from fat on the body. Thats my opinion from experience and reading Fung’s the complete guide to fasting where most people feel the same way. To each their own
