Like a lot of folks, my weight loss journey has been going on for years, but there were two previous times in the past where I made real effort. I would see success for a few months and then it would all unravel around 6 months. Life got in the way and I always eventually wanted my old habits more than I wanted to change.
On June 25 last year I made a new commitment to giving IF a try and more importantly to making the process about positive improvement of myself. So pleased that I’ve stuck with it this far and there’s no end in sight.
And that’s not to say that I’ve been perfect. I’ve had bad days, I relaxed through the holidays, but making my goals about the process not the outcome has really helped me get back on track each time. Every day I am waking up to new milestones and realizations that I’m in the best shape of my life since basically childhood.
Here’s to keeping it going and good luck to y’all on your own journeys!
Your mindset is exactly what I’m trying to work on. Past diets were all about the scale. Now it’s about feeling good and being happy with what I can accomplish. Very proud of you! Keep up the good work.
You and I are on a very similar journey. I also have been a yo-yo dieter and I’ve never stuck to anything the way I have IF. I also made huge dietary changes. I’ve been on this path 9 months now and I feel better, healthier and happier than I have in a long time. I also threw away my scale, I know my weight because I have to see the Dr… that’s enough weighing for me.
I’m glad that you’re doing so well! Congrats on your success, I hope to read more updates in the future. You’re going to smash all of your goals.
Making goals about the process, not the outcome — that is the drum I keep on beating! For me it’s the only thing that works and keeps me motivated to keep going. I’m so glad to hear it works for you too!
