Numbers on the scale going up after eating bad food within eating window

I’ve been doing IF (16 hrs or more) everyday now for 2 weeks. Starting weight was 180-182lbs, then the lowest I got within these two weeks was 178. I haven’t been eating out much but the last 2 days I ate fast food within my eating window and I was back at 180 the next morning. I know weight fluctuates but I’m just discouraged. Am I really losing the progress, or is it just water weight/bloat from the salt content?

Besides those two days I’ve been eating pretty well in my fasting windows and not over eating.

Answer

A couple days isn’t important.

If you go back to your plan and the weight goes down, then it’s probably just a hiccup. Don’t worry about it.

If you continue eating out and the weight/measurements/progress pics aren’t going your way, then you need to adjust things.

Eating out isn’t a bad thing. Eating out constantly and not meeting your goals isn’t great. So do what you need to do to stay on plan.

Answer

If you weigh yourself at different times of the day you’ll see different numbers. Your weight is constantly fluctuating. If you’re going off weight just look at weekly and monthly trends, not daily fluctuations

Answer

you didn’t gain 2 ibs in 2 days. That would mean you ate a 3500 calorie surplus, which is really hard to do. All fast foods have a lot of sodium + its heavy in carbs. IF you count the calories per meal, I’m sure it doesn’t equate a single pound at all. You’re just retaining a lot of water, and that’s nothing to worry about. The weight you just gained will go back down in a few days, if you stay on your normal diet. Don’t be discourage cause my weight at the beginning of the week was 156 and I’m sure I didn’t gain like 4ibs in 5 days.
