Nutrients needed for detox? Kidney & liver function? Fiber? How much water?

As I’m killing/treating my SIBO and Candida atm there are many tocins my body has to get rid of. And as a feel the urge to fast (juice fasting) it should be a good idea. But I don’t want to reabsorb toxins. The questions are:

  1. What do I need to get them out effectively? As the toxins are in the gut it would probably be good to get at least some fiber (grapefruit, leafy greens, watermelon???) and/or charcoal, Psyllum husks, bentonite clay…

  2. What nutrients does the body (esp. liver, kidneys…) need to function properly so it can detox efficiently? Are there some supplements or is it possible to add them with real foods?

  3. How much water do you recommend? The kidneys need it to flush stuff out, but it also lowers HCS stomach acid, doesn’t it? (mine is already too low).

  4. Any other recommendations?

Thank you! :)

‘cleanses’ are not supported by science - your body naturally has processes to rid yourself of said ‘toxins’ and fasting can help supercharge this by consuming needed materials during the fast. There are certain foods you can eat that will contribute chemicals that have mediating properties on potentially harmful chemistry (free radicals for example) such as antioxidants. However these can be found in many foods that you already eat (vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids). Drinking lots of water and eating fiber can help with upset stomach - however if you are having issues with your stomach acid levels I recommend seeing a doctor as it might not be solely diet related (sleep is very important with regards to that).

Charcoal is not useful unless you are trying to absorb medications or poisons in the stomach, and even then it’s effectiveness is currently under scrutiny in the emergency medicine field. If you are using activated charcoal when you are eating it absorbs everything so it is counter productive to consuming nutrients.

Honestly the best advice is to eat healthy fruits and veggies along with oils and nuts. This will give your body the variety of chemicals it needs to be at its best. It already knows what to do!

I’m just sharing what works for me. Not a doctor.

I have a sweet tooth so juice fasts aren’t great for me. I spike my blood sugar from too much carrot and other sweet juices with no fiber. That also feeds the baddies. In the past this has left me covered in rashes and itching.

I do Renew Life’s 30 Day Cleanse 2x a year. Spring and fall. It’s a two part cleanse.

Followed by the 30 Day Liver Cleanse.

They don’t have a kidney cleanse anymore but you can buy them online.

Then parasites and yeast.

So total body, liver, kidneys, parasites and yeast is the order they told me to go.

I take psyllium from Costco. 12 capsules 2x a day.

I take a multi vitamin 2 hours apart from the fiber.

Sometimes I’ll add bentonite or activated charcoal.

I’m currently finding that fasting all day and eating a keto dinner works best for me for weight loss and food allergies.

So a typical day looks like this:

8am: thyroid, multi, part 1 of cleanse

10:30am: fiber

1pm: more thyroid, multi, D, etc

4:30pm: fiber

6:30pm: low carb dinner

9:30pm: melatonin, fish oil, part 2 of cleanse

Lots of water. Green tea. Drinks sweetened with stevia.
