article from “healthline.com” says that “Milk contains many essential nutrients, including protein, calcium, potassium, zinc, and vitamin A — all of which are important for growth during childhood. Some milk products are also fortified with vitamin D ( 3 ). Milk also stimulates the production of a hormone known as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1).”
does oat milk include these nutrients for growth as well or only cow milk ?
The milks are different and come with their own differing nutritional profiles, with pros and cons for each. The main differences imo, would be that cow’s milk is an animal product, while oat milk is vegetarian (hence, protein profile is very different), cow’s milk would contain lactose while oat wouldn’t, and cow’s milk contain more calcium. As far as vitamins go, any answer would be highly dependent on how the products are fortified. Read the labels and compare (they’d be very different brand to brand).
The main thing that influences growth is protein. Oat milk has much less protein than cows milk so all else constant, cows milk is better for growth .
However you could just increase your protein in other ways like soy milk, other soy products, beans, lentils etc whilst still consuming oat milk
The only thing that matters is that you get necessary micro and macronutrients daily. I don’t think it really matters where you get it.
With dairy you could argue better amino acids for mass gain but on the other hand don’t forget about the cancer associated risk with hormones in dairy.
If all things being equal in your diet I doubt the difference between oat milk and dairy is going to change your results to any measurable level.
