Ok to do IF while I have a cold?

I’ve been doing one meal a day (OMAD) for a while now and really enjoy it actually. But now I’ve got a cold and I’m wondering if I should eat more. I would prefer not to eat more but I want to get over this cold. I am, of course, drinking lots of water and herbal tea. When I have my one meal of the day it is very healthy and I follow it up with various vitamins.

What’s the medical advice on this? Can I stick with OMAD or am I prolonging this cold?

Answer

I continue fasting through colds and most illnesses. I think my immune system is better when fasting routinely and without your body focusing on other metabolic activities it can clear out junk through autophagy and can take out the virus too. That’s just my thinking and experience, but you may be different. I do make sure to maintain electrolytes and minerals. I mix 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar, 1/4 tsp pink salt, 1/4 tsp cream of tartar in 16 oz water and take my magnesium supplements….and feel good.
