OMAD....am I doing this right?

I’m new to intermittent fasting I’ve been doing it since Sunday after gaining weight recently. I find it easy enough and gone straight into one meal a day or OMAD as it’s called….I usually eat around 2pm quite a decent sized meal (chicken veg rice for example) then I don’t eat until a similar time the next day. I’m really pleased with myself as I’m used to snacking on the wrong things especially at night time. However, I seem to have put weight on the past few days like today I weighed 17st 10 before I went to the gym, which i normally do twice a week. My workout consists of about an hours weightlifting followed by 30 mins swimming. After that I weighed 18st 1….that was before I eat….so I’m like WTF…

In terms of the fasting I feel great, don’t feel hunger and my clothes are looser, which is great. But why the weight gain if I feel slimmer? Maybe it’s water retention with all the extra fluids I’m consuming.

So…if anybody can explain this or give me tips I’d appreciate it, even if its reassurance that I’m doing this right.

I plan to stick to this I’m not disheartened one bit I feel its do-able and no doubt next week once my body is properly adjusted I will start to lose the weight I want to.

Sounds like you’re simply weighing yourself at the wrong time. Keep in mind your weigh fluctuates throughout the day based on what you’ve had to eat, drink etc. Water weight. The best time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning when you wake up before you’ve eaten anything and after your bathroom break.

I’m currently doing OMAD and yes, the weight definitely fluctuates. Some days I lose more weight than others, some days I don’t lose any weight at all and some days I gain just a little bit more and the next day it drops. I try to weigh myself first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up, before I eat, after the trip to the bathroom. Don’t feel discouraged by the number on the scale! Even on days I gained a little more, when I look in the mirror I definitely feel slimmer and clothes seems to fit just a little better.
