OMAD - Anyone else feel nauseous?

In week three(ish) of OMAD(ish). Generally OMAD to 22:2, a little lax to 16:8 on the weekends if I’ve got plans that involve food. This week I’ve been feeling sick and sluggish when I eat my one meal. I’m not talking about a meal where I intentionally stuff myself with a whole pizza because it’s my one meal. I’m talking about the things I used to eat for dinner as one of three meals—like a Sweetgreens or Qdoba chicken bowl (800ish calories). I know my body is probably adapting to the fasting, and I know that’s definitely a good thing. I’m just . . . not enjoying the one meal as much as I thought I would.

Answer

Carbs could be one of the issues and the blood sugar/insulin spike.

If I do OMAD and it is heavy on carbs (personally for me “heavy” means around and above 50% of my meal) I feel sluggish too and also heavy afterwards for hours.

Also the food coma effect doesn’t work with my schedule so I try to avoid OMAD.Instead I’m doing 18/6 and alternating days of fasting.

That way on the day when I do 18/6 I don’t get an insulin spike by splitting my calories into 2 meals (2MAD) and I catch up on extended fasting state the next day.

Are you only eating 800 calories for your meal? How much fat are you eating? I wasn’t getting nauseous but I was feeling weak after about week three until I started eating more. I was eating around 1500-1700 calories in my meal. I stepped that up to around 2000-2200 and started feeling better. It did not effect weight loss either.
