So I had a previous post where I stated that I have done the 16:8 fasting before but I never really noticed any results for about two months. Some people recommended extending the fast, so I started reading on OMAD. I really want to try it out, but I’m not really sure how to start. Is there an eating window of certain hours? Should I supplement to get all my nutrients in? Even on 16:8 it was hard to hit my calories to 1,200-do you guys have any tips? Thanks! :)
ALSO: I loooveee coffee, but I’ve read even a splash of heavy cream will break the fast(although others say it won’t) so what’s a good coffee that will actually taste good black…. :)
First, you can do it!
I’ve only been OMAD for five weeks, but I can tell you it gets easier.
I kept extending my fasting window, eating my first meal around 2pm for a few days, then pushed it out to 4pm, and now I just eat dinner with the family.
During my fast I drink black coffee (I love Cameron’s Jamaica), water, green tea, black tea, seltzer water.
I spent hours (still do) watching Dr. Fung, Dr. Berg, and Dr. Mindy on YT.
My loss in one month was over 8 lbs, I could have done better, but I’m 16:8 on weekends, or I don’t fast at all one day on a weekend, plus Memorial Day cookouts, work luncheons, etc. I’m still figuring it out, but seriously loving the simplicity of it. I’ve already saved $300 last month in food alone. I don’t have to bring any food with me to work. It’s awesome.
Extend your fasting window, little by little.
Fwiw, I had never been able to drink coffee without milk and (a little) sugar, but one day I just decided to stop putting sugar in it and a couple months later I just decided to stop putting milk in it and it really wasn’t long before my tastebuds fully adjusted. Like maybe two weeks? And now I can ONLY drink hot coffee, any hot coffee, black. Even when I fall off keto for longer periods of time. I always thought black coffee would be impossible for me, so just know tastebuds can do crazy adjustments!
